the name Alvei means: "anybody who goes all the ways"

after decommissioning in 1986 the new owner Evan Logan restored the vessel in Portugal, re-rigging of the ship as a topsail schooner

since 1995 the vessel sails in the Pacific most time after finishing the 8-year conversion in Portugal she sailed to Madeira, the Canaries, Barbados, Bequia, Granada, Trinidad, Dutch Antillies, Panama, Costa Rica, Galapagos, Marquesas, Tuamoto, Tahiti & the Sociaty Is., Tutuila, Samoa, Savaii Vava'u, Fiji, Vanuatu, Australia and New Zealand, next sailing target could be a voyage through Indonesia to southeast Asia.

the current purpose of the ship is to allow her changing crew to maintain a low cost, self-sufficient lifestyle learning the traditional arts of the sailor.

everybody who sails on the ship belongs to the crew and is in common responsible for the maintainance and navigation, watch keeping and sail handling as well as repair (hand-for-berth)
