Glenlee

1896 launched at the shipyard of Anderson Rodgers, Port Glasgow, as a barque-rigged cargo ship and delivered to Archibald Sterling & Co., Glasgow, GBR; named the "Glenlee".

1898 sold to the Islamount Sailing Ship Co. (Robert Ferguson & Co.), Dundee, GBR; renamed the "Islamount"; she sailed 4 circumnavigations an 15 passages round Cape Horn during this time.

1905 sold to Flint Castle Shipping Co. (R. Thomas & Co.) of Liverpool.

1918 operated by J. Stewart & Co., London, GBR for the Shipping Controller.

1919 sold to Societa Italiana di Navigazione "Stella d'Italia", Milan, ITA who modernised her, renamed the "Clarastella", registered at Genoa, ITA; fitted with two aux. diesel engines.

1922 acquired by the Spanish Navy to be used as a sail training ship, rebuilt at Cautieu Navale Triestino, Monfalcon (Triest), ITA, renamed the "Galatea".

since 1927 training ship for non-commissioned officers and used for special training exercises.

1946 lost almost the entire rigging in a severe storm, but managed to put into Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

probably 1969 laid up at El Ferrol del Caudillo, SPA; used as stationary training ship, 1981 removal of the rigging, towed to Seville, SPA to be used as a museum ship, the project failed and she was left without any attempt at maintenance or security rotten and sunk in the habour.

1992 sold at auction to the Clyde Maritime Trust to be converted into a museum ship in Glasgow, GBR; renamed the "Glenlee" again.

1993 towed form Seville, SPA to Greenock, GBR.

1993-1999 completely restored to her original appearance including her rigging and installation of a figurehead.

presently since 1994 berthed at Yorkhill Quay, Glasgow, GBR.
