Built in 1934 as a lightship.
Between 1977 and 1982 a Portuguese yard converted her into a barquentine. She has taken part in many sailing events — the Cutty Sark race of 1984, the London – Brazil – South Africa – Australia regatta of 1987–88 and Australia's bicentenary celebrations at Sydney.
Generously equipped, she is used for charter work in diving and recreational tourism in the Caribbean, the Mediterranean and the Red Sea.
She is named after the author of Don Quixote.
