A re-creation of the 1848 Revenue Marine Service cutter C. W. Lawrence, one of the fastest and grandest ships of that service and the first assigned to the California coast. The Revenue Marine Service was the predecessor of the US Coast Guard.
She exemplifies the level of speed and elegance the era achieved.
She offers educational programmes for young Californians, operating out of southern California from September through April and in northern California waters from May through August.
For many years she was owned and managed by the non-profit Nautical Heritage Society, and later passed to the Maritime Museum of San Diego.
