Built in 1910 at Alphen aan den Rijn as the fishing lugger Luchtstraal. Many owners and names followed: Tertius at Rotterdam from 1918, Jan at Groningen from 1923, and from 1927 the freighter Greta at Hamburg. In 1938 H. Behrens of Moorrege bought her and renamed her Heinz Helmut.

In 1952 she was lengthened by seven metres and modernised; under later owners she was named Lotte Nagel (1956) and Ursel Beate (1964). She was decommissioned and struck from the register in 1971.

In 1978 F. and W. Vlaun of Amsterdam bought her, restored her by 1982 and returned her to sail as a three-masted gaff schooner registered at Enkhuizen, working charter with sailing guests.

After another change of owner, Captain O. Wipperfürth sailed her mostly with young people in mixed Dutch and German crews on adventure cruises in the North and Baltic Seas, and as a race and escort vessel at sailing events. From 1997 she was based at Rostock and, as Bartele Rensink, was a frequent guest at the Hanse Sail, Kieler Woche and other events. In September 1997 she narrowly escaped disaster off the Polish coast when a mast broke.

Since 1998–99 she has sailed the Mediterranean year round, chartered by the Swiss Jugendheim Sternen for social projects with young people and renamed Salomon; in November 2001 the home bought her outright and registered her in Gibraltar. She set out across the Atlantic in the autumn of 2001, called at Cape Verde in February 2002 and reached Martinique in March. On her return she went into the yard at Elsfleth for a major overhaul from June 2002 to August 2003, followed by another Atlantic voyage by way of Ireland and the Canaries to the ABC islands off Venezuela.

She was overhauled again at Elsfleth in 2007/2008, and from May 2008 until 2017 was operated by the Jugendschiffe Schweiz foundation for social work with teenagers. In 2008 she was registered as a traditional sailing vessel at Basel. In 2018 former crew members took her over and renamed her Buona Onda.
