Built in 1913 by Hendrik Kroese at Hoogezand as a freighter for the German captain Klaus Diedrich Koch of Basbeck. As Emma & Willy she carried cargo in the North and Baltic Seas.
An auxiliary engine went in in 1926 and she was renamed Gossi in 1930. Her hull was lengthened by five metres in 1948; in 1950 a mast was removed and her engine replaced, and from 1952 she sailed as a single-masted vessel with auxiliary power before losing her rig altogether. In 1956 she became Anke Grothmann.
A change of owner and flag in 1965 made her Marie-Gisela, worked as a coastal freighter by the Umland family of Neustadt until 1990.
She then went to the Netherlands and in 1992 was converted into a topsail schooner for day and weekend trips. Since 1999 she has belonged to Aard-Michiel Bot and Claudia Vieser.
In season she sails the Baltic from Kiel, and in the shoulder seasons the IJsselmeer from her base at Lemmer. She is a frequent visitor to Kieler Woche, the Hanse Sail in Rostock and other Baltic maritime events.
