Built in 1904 at a yard in Dajord near Bergen as a staysail schooner, in the traditional Norwegian manner.
As a sailing freighter she supplied the islands and the Norwegian shore with goods of every kind, and went sealing in the waters around Greenland. She was fitted with an engine in 1924. Sold in 1953 and renamed Laksen, she stayed in the North Atlantic; from 1974 to 1979 she sailed as Finkampen.
After further changes of ownership she was bought in 1980 by an enthusiast from Kiel and in 1982 passed to the museum harbour in Hamburg. Her restoration at Kappeln on the Schlei took many years and was largely owner-built.
Today she serves both as a private sailing vessel and as a youth ship, cruising the Baltic and on to Sweden and Norway from her base at the museum harbour in Kappeln.
