Built in 1956–57 by Richard Dunston Ltd. at Thorne, Yorkshire, and used as a motor vessel in the fisheries.
A consortium bought her in 1993 and converted her into a barquentine for passenger voyages by 1995. Her main sailing grounds became the North and Baltic Seas, and for many years she was a regular at Rostock's Hanse Sail and at Kieler Woche; she suits smaller groups particularly well.
In 2005 she was sold to Jan and Jelle Bruinsma of the Tallship Company. She was overhauled in 2016 and her hull lengthened by eight metres. She now makes extended voyages across northern Europe and into the Arctic.
