Launched in Sweden as a three-masted gaff schooner under the name Yngve. In 1937 she was re-rigged as a two-masted schooner carrying fish between Iceland and Scandinavia, and during the Second World War she served as a merchant ship in the Baltic under the name Lindö.
From 1970 she passed through a succession of charter owners, and in 1974 her rig was refitted to make her a three-masted topsail schooner. The Alexandria Seaport Foundation bought her in 1983 and gave her the name Alexandria.
She took part in the Quebec Tall Ships Race in Canada in 1984, Operation Sail in New York in 1986, and the American Sail Training Association's Tall Ships Race in Chesapeake Bay in 1991.
She was sold in September 1996 when extensive repairs became necessary. **On 12 September 1996 she was lost** fifty nautical miles south-west of Cape Hatteras on a voyage to Beaufort. Her crew was saved by the US Coast Guard. The loss came from a coincidence of unfortunate conditions and the poor state of the vessel.
