Built at the Ruitenberg yard for the Bruynincks family of skippers and named Baronie, she carried freight — vegetables, grain, hay and coal — on the inland waters of Holland, Belgium and Germany and on what is now the IJsselmeer. Under sail alone.
In 1913 Johannes Romijn of Almkerk bought her and renamed her Spes Salutes. An engine was not fitted until 1953, and she carried cargo until 1988.
Willem van Gelderen and Moniek van der Werff then acquired her, restored her to her original condition and equipped her for charter trips. The interior was renovated in 2010; she changed hands again in 2015 and now sails on charter for Zonnewind Zeilreizen.
