Built in 1948 at the Gustav Sanitz yard in Barth as a fishing boat and completed at Stralsund that October. She most likely fished for the East German fleet as SAS 86, later WIS 109 Karl Krull, until the 1970s.
In 1979 she was sold to the West German organisation Sozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterjugend for their projects, registered in Kiel and sailing the western Baltic. Between 1985 and 1990 she was converted to sail and rigged as a gaff ketch that handles well.
Today she offers charter and day trips. New owners took her over in 2020 and Flensburg became her home port.
She is named after Albin Köbis, one of the leaders of the 1917 sailors' revolt at Wilhelmshaven, who with Max Reichpietsch campaigned for peace and social justice.
