Built in 1904 at San Diego, California, as a classic yacht for regattas and later for charter along the Californian coast. She lay idle in San Francisco Bay for several years in the 1970s.
In the early 1980s Eric Ashford, an importer of timber for yacht building, acquired her and had the whole hull overhauled and the rigging renewed in 1982–83, though he used her only rarely. In 2003 Dr Gray moved her to Fawley for further work.
In 2005 Richard Bendy took her over and moved her to Lallows in Cowes, where hull and deck were renewed and a new engine fitted. Bob Gatehouse bought her in 2007 and took her to Poole, but did not sail her.
Anthony Wheaton acquired her in 2008. After a few attempts he built a more balanced rig, and she has since seen annual overhauls and improvements, interior included, private sailing and successful racing, mainly in the Solent. She has been for sale since around 2022, her owner wishing to pass her to younger hands.
