Built in 1913 at the Jacobs yard in Moorrege and christened Adler von Krautsand after the river island of Krautsand, home of her first owner, K. Haack.
She began as an engineless cargo vessel carrying building materials, fruit and vegetables to Hamburg, to coastal towns and inland. An engine was fitted in 1924. Later her hull was lengthened to some fifty metres and she was converted into an inland motor vessel, changing owners and names several times.
In 1978 the Hamburg ship enthusiast I. Schwarz saved her from the breakers and rebuilt the hull to its original measurements. After his death in 2005 she was bought by B. and D. Pogoda of Bremen, who restored her thoroughly as a besanewer — a sailing barge of the river Elbe. She sailed again for the first time in the summer of 2006 in the Baltic.
