Her keel was laid at Ålesund, Norway, in 1863. Completed as Giske, she worked the coasting trade in the North Sea, carrying salt out to the Lofoten Islands and bringing fish back.
In 1891 she was converted into a ketch and her hull lengthened, sailing as Misjonær Skrefsrud until 1951. The shipping company of Peder Pedersen at Lista then bought her, gave her the present name Adella, and used her for timber and fertiliser.
Tarald Glastad acquired her in 1971. After two years as a houseboat, restoration began in 1973; in 1974 the hull was completely renewed from the waterline up at Hardanger, and modern navigation equipment, generators and life-saving appliances were fitted to bring her in line with current regulations.
In the late 1970s the family firm A/S Mosvolds Rederi took her over, and in 1981 she returned to Farsund for the restoration to be completed. Today she is a well-equipped charter vessel.
